Step 1. Download the free Khan Academy Kids app on your mobile device.
Khan Academy Kids is 100% free and can be downloaded from the Apple, Google Play, or Amazon app store. The app is compatible with most smartphones, tablets, and Chromebooks. The app will need to be downloaded on a teacher device and all student devices.
Step 2. Sign up for a teacher account.
When the app has finished downloading, open the app and tap At School. Then select Teacher.
You have four options for creating your account:
- Enter email address: The option on the right side allows you to type in an email address and a password. You'll need to go into your email account to verify the address, and then you'll return to the app to finish creating your account.
- Continue with Google: If you have a Gmail email address, you can use it to create your account. You will not need to go into your email account to verify the address.
- Continue with Apple: If you have an Apple email address, you can use it to create your account. You will not need to go into your email account to verify the address.
- Continue with Clever: If your school uses Clever for rostering, you can sign in with Clever to allow your students to sign in from their Clever portal or with their Clever badge. For more information about creating your account with Clever, click here.
Step 3. If you typed in an email address, you'll need to verify.
Enter your email address and tap Continue. The app will prompt you to check your email. Open the email from Khan Academy Kids and click Verify Email. If you don’t see an email from Khan Academy Kids, check your Spam and Junk folders. Or, contact us at khankids@khanacademy.org.
Enter your email address and tap Next. |
Check your email and click Verify Email. |
Step 4. Fill out your account information.
If you had to verify your email address, return to the app. The app will walk you through the rest of the process. You’ll enter your teacher name, select your grade level, enter student names, and set their independent learning levels. You’ll know you’re done when you see the User Select screen with all the student names and animal avatars.
Congratulations! Your Class Account is all set up and ready to go! Now it’s time to find your Class Code to get students started on Khan Academy Kids.
